Academic Advising

Academic advisors are available in the Mystic Advising and Counseling Center (MACC) and can assist with a wide range of academic needs, including:
  • General advising questions
  • Degree planning
  • Course registration and withdrawal
  • Transfer guidance
  • Graduation applications
Whether you're unsure about your next steps or just need a quick check-in, our advisors are here to help you stay on track and make informed decisions.

Who is My Advisor?

An academic advisor is assigned to each student enrolled at BSC based on their program of study.

To find your academic advisor, log on to and click on your Academic Progress tile on your Student Homepage. Your advisor’s name, email address and phone number will be displayed under the Advisors and Advising Notes section.   

Preparing for Your Advising Appointment

Schedule your advising appointment in advance.  
  • At busy times of the year, your advisor may not be able to see you at a moment's notice. Contact the MACC by calling 701-224-5752 or emailing bsc.advising@bismarckstate.edu or contacting your assigned advisor directly. 

Plan ahead to arrive on time.  
  • It is always good to arrive early.  If you are late, you may have to reschedule your advising appointment.

Make sure you have your login information for CampusConnection.  
Check for Holds and To Do's.  
  • To check for Holds and To Do's, log in to your CampusConnection Student Homepage. Certain Holds and To Do's may prevent you from registering for your classes. Check with the office listed for more information.

If you plan to transfer, familiarize yourself with the transfer institution's degree requirements. 
  • If you have a catalog or program information from your transfer school, bring it with to your advising appointment.

Review your degree plan.
 
  • You can view your degree plan, including the classes required for your degree, in the . 

Prepare a trial schedule of classes.  
  • Prepare a list of classes that you would like to take or think that you may need for your BSC degree or transfer school.

Bring a list of questions. 
  • Get the most out of your appointment by having all your questions answered at once.

To request a new advisor or change your program of study, fill out the Program, Advisor or Multiple Program Change form located in CampusConnection.
